Avoid DWI accidents this Holiday Season

DWI accidents

Huge numbers of drunken driving fatalities are normally witnessed during holiday seasons. The fact that we are entering a holiday season, increases our chances of witnessing incidents with drunken drivers. Statistics on DWI mishaps state that every 31 minutes someone is killed in an alcohol related crash.

The period between the Thanksgiving Day and New Year’s Eve is one of the most deadly and dangerous seasons in a year due to maximum number of alcohol related accidents during this time. Recent studies claim that with the increase in sobriety check points during holiday seasons, the number of alcohol related injury clashes have come down by 25%. It is also said that the number of DWI crashes are comparatively less this year.

Avoid accidents this holiday season

Thousands of individuals are arrested every year for the offence of driving under the influence of alcohol. Only a few of them are repeat offenders. Close to 80% of the offenders are binge drinkers. Not just college students even a number of older adults binge drink as well.

With the introduction of ignition interlock device, where alcohol is traced on breathing into the device, it will not allow you to start the car. This is done all through the journey at regular intervals and at any point in time where alcohol is traced either the car alarm will notify the police or in certain cases the car engine automatically shuts down.

Every step taken is towards the prevention of drunken driving related accidents. Always ensure to designate a safe driver when you attend to a holiday party.

Have a Safe and Happy Holiday Time!

Florida Man Arrested for Driving Drunk in School Zone

Driving While Intoxicated is one of the serious offences under Florida State Driving Laws. Inspite of the strict regulations imposed on Drunken Driving in the state we had recently come across a DUI case in a school zone in Jacksonville. There had been no DWI/DUI offence recently spotted in the school zone. The incident has induced fear in minds of parents who were rest assured that their children were safe in schools. Inspite of every effort taken by parents to ensure the safety of their children, drunkard idiots play with the lives of thousands of innocent school children.

It was late afternoon on 20th of August 2008 that a deputy traffic monitor saw a car entering the school zone beyond regular speed limits, sensing the danger which could turn fatal, pulled over the car in front of the elementary school. He was a 28 year old Tampa man by name Michael Trotter Shaffer. He was arrested under the charges of driving under influence.

A Blood Alcohol Test (BAC) was conducted on him, the results revealed an extreme BAC level that stood four times the legally permitted limit. The Breathalyzer test revealed a shocking blood alcohol level of .376 and .367. Only those persons who have developed a very high tolerance towards alcohol consumption can afford to drink such huge quantities of intoxicated drink.

A DWI offence causing terrible mishap is treated with harsh punishments and terrible consequences to avoid such a scenario in future. The field officers had charged him with a DUI offence, driving with license revoked – habitual offender and for obstructing or opposing an enforcement officer. It is an extreme drunk driving case. Apart from having his license suspended for an indefinite period, he would be fined heavily along with an extended jail term considering the seriousness of his crime.

Good way to control Underage offenders: Show Your Tickets at the Prom then Step in Line for a Breathalyzer Test

It was in Arlington, in the state of Texas that the seriousness of controlling teen drinking came to light, when a 16 year old girl reported that she was raped at an off-campus drinking party attended by around 75 students at an Arlington High School.

A Zero Tolerance Law plan was introduced by School Superintendent Lynn Hale. He had a plan to introduce few simple and nonintrusive tests which will ensure that student enjoy an alcohol-free prom and parents are rest assured about the safety of their children. The students attending the school will be administered with test before being admitted. The policy was enforced in order to combat with teen drinking.

The students showing up for the prom will be administered with breathalyzer and other appropriate sobriety test. Students are also given a litmus test to detect the amount of alcohol content in the body of the student. Many students have raised voice against them being subjected to such strict rules calling it a violation of their constitutional rights.

The school authorities took an iron hand in punishing those who were intoxicated. The moment a student was detected of intoxication (where the alcohol level was more than zero); their parents were immediately called to pick them up. Such students were to be placed in an alternative education for the remainder of the year. The sole aim of the plan was to instill fear in the minds of students about the aftermath of such an act and thereby prevent them from getting into any great trouble.

Lynn Hale’s proposal of introducing tests which where simple and nonintrusive to prevent the teens falling prey to resultant dangers was turned down by the court. Considering the value of the proposal the d

Can DWI be Funny?

As I was browsing on www.youtube.com the other day, I came across this entire collection of funny DWI videos. DWI or Driving While Intoxicated with alcohol or other intoxicating drugs is a pretty serious crime that is heavily dealt with in America and all other developed countries. If any law enforcement officer has a doubt that you are driving any motor vehicle after the consumption of any intoxicating substances, he has the right to stop your vehicle and ask you to undertake breath, blood and urine test to determine the BAC (Blood Alcohol Content).

What is so funny?

Alcohol does strange things to people. It impairs your physical and mental capabilities. Imagine facing a police officer for a serious crime in such a situation and the result is hilarious. The people charged with DWI are unable to undertake the tests; some cannot even comprehend what is going on. While some turn downright aggressive and abusive, some turn into innocent clowns.

Learning from laughs...

Apart from enjoying these funny Driving While Intoxicated videos, we should also learn a small streak of wisdom hiding behind them. If a person is so drunk that he is unable to comprehend what is happening around him, then he is certainly not the right person to be behind the wheel. So, make sure you don't drink and drive and neither your friends nor family do!

Some survive... and their horror story lives on! Every night, their nightmare continues. They hear the screeching tires, screaming voices and echoing ambulance sirens in all clarity. They relive that 'D' day and wake up screaming. This video aptly depicts the terrible situation prevalent in society today.

At least one in every four children younger than 18 years in America is exposed to alcohol abuse or alcohol dependence in the family. In fact, it is said that at least one person dies every 30 minutes due to a drunk-driving accident, around the world.

Natasha's life was perfect. She had a beautiful home, caring husband and a pretty little five-year old daughter. One evening, when she was in the park, teaching her daughter to ride a bike, a racing car broke through the barbed fence and ran over her daughter, just before her eyes. Needless to say, the driver was totally drunk. Natasha now resides in a home for the mentally challenged. She lost her entire mental faculties after watching her child die before her eyes. There are thousands of 'Natashas' around the world today and each has a gory tale to share.

Drunken drivers are not just negligent and careless but they are downright criminals. They should realize that they have no right to put other's lives at risk. Never mix drinking and driving – only then we can call our society a civilized one.
